A desk by any other name...

At yesterday's business unit meeting we discussed the abandonment of the term 'desk shift' because there will be no desks in our very near future! Also we want to embrace the fact that when we are rostered on it is not just to hang @ the desk - it's to represent Unley Libraries and provide all aspects of the 'customer experience'.

For those who missed yesterday's BU meeting and the customer experience adventure, you can find the slide show @ H:\Library\BU meetings\Minute Archive. Please take the time to have a look at it and have a chat to me or Martine about the customer experience - it is such a good way to think about what we do, why we do what we do, and the impact it has.

Anyways, back to the demise of the term 'desk shift' and over to you... What are your ideas for a replacement name?

We preferably want something catchy, that captures the purpose of the shifts, and maybe has a cool acronym that could be used on the roster. So put your thinking caps on and post your suggestions in the comments. Here are some (not very imaginative and/or quite, quite awful) ideas to get you started and give the general concept...
  • Customer Service Shifts (CSS)
  • Customer Experience Shifts (CES)
  • Customer Attention Time (CAT)
  • UNley Customer Library Experience (UnCLE)
So please save us from these *terrible* attempts and add your own suggestions in the comments.Looking forward to hearing them :)

  4. Came across one university's customer service guideline which we can adapt with the acronym GREAT

    Greet our customers
Respect their cultural and personal differences
    Evaluate their needs
    Address their concerns
    Thank them for their patronage
