Martine is very busy working out a number of rosters, (working out what staff will be located at what branch, Pop-Up library roster, Library Admin, & Training sessions etc).
The roster information will be rolled out as things are finalised.
And... the all important question came round, about the Customer Experience as we transition to RFID.
Goodwood closure dates are 2-9 May
Unley closure dates are 16-29 May
We want to ensure that during the closure dates that patrons who are visiting the alternate branch find the experience to be as enjoyable as possible.
We also want to ensure staff are feeling confident with their interactions with patrons during this interim phase.
Unley Closure (Goodwood is open)
With Unley being closed for 2 weeks, and the Goodwood library space being a bit smaller,
we want to ensure that we have adequate resources available for all.
Goodwood will have been refurbished first, and this will mean that there will be the newly installed bench space with extra data points installed, great for PC users!
We will bring in extra seating and pop-up tables for patrons to use.
To bump up some of our facilities, we will also bring over some items from Unley to Goodwood:
- Newspapers
- Hot Speed Read books
- Scanner
- Headphones
- Cash float
And remember that the Goodwood hours will be extended whilst Unley is closed.
We will also be having a Pop-Up library in the Council office (whilst Unley is closed).
Unley holds will be available for pickup from the Pop-up Library.
Patron holds will have an extended pickup time during the closure dates.
Goodwood Closure (Unley is open)
When Goodwood is closed -- the Goodwood holds will be bought over to Unley.

I might leave this post with a heart-note.... something to ponder when thinking about the Customer Experience...

ReplyDeleteJust realised that we can't take the Unley scanner to use on the Goodwood public PCs (or vice versa) because they are different models so they use different software. BUT we can definitely encourage people to scan direct to a USB on our photocopiers. This is much easier anyways - the instructions are stuck on the wall right by the copiers - and it is a HUGE timesaver whenever multiple pages are involved (feeder tray anyone?).

ReplyDeleteCustomer query about the Unley closure today, Damiana and I couldn't answer for sure. Will customers be able to access the Wifi from outside the building during the closure? And will there be newspapers available to read at the pop up library in council foyer? (This could be a good idea, but is there enough room? We could maybe encourage people to read them outside near the garden beds if the weather is fine?)

DeleteThe builders will have to shut off the power for some periods while they do electrical work, but this should be in the first week of the unley closure and the first half of the week of the goodwood closure.
