Hopefully by this stage you have all taken the time to visit our resident glowing RFID kiosk and introduce yourself. You might even be old friends by now. Well now is the time to build on this relationship - or start a new one if you haven't had the chance to get acquainted.
The kiosk will be our numero uno, go to, central customer-facing RFID tool in a matter of mere weeks (squee!). You and our customers will be using these babies on a daily basis as there will be 4 @ Unley, and 3 @ Goody, plus one slightly different looking one @ the Toy Library.
Since we are lucky enough to have the test one to play with, now is the time to get your knowledge up to uber comfort levels before the machines are released into the wild. And you know how we all learn best? By having a play of course!
So to help you build up your skills @ your own pace, and to learn with (and from) your Library Land buddies, we have created a few tools to help you.
RFID HQ (a.k.a. the First Floor Library Meeting Room) is the place to be. It has the gorgeous RFID kiosk, lots of info and artwork on the walls, and a list of all of the library staff names including you - yes you!
So your mission is to visit this room, either with a Library buddy, or a posse, or flying solo. Whatever YOU find works best for YOU. Pop the date next to your name on the list, and if you are hanging in RFID HQ with a buddy or a crew, join your names together with a line. Then grab a copy of the Unley Libraries RFID Kiosk Test-O-Rama document - which for ease of access you can find in plentiful hard copy in the HQ (or @ H:\Library\RFID PROJECT TEAM\Training\Test scenarios.pdf if you want to peruse it on screen).
For those permanent residents of Library Land, can you please help out our amazing casual team by seizing any opportunity when it is quiet on a STAR shift, and letting them come up and have a play with the kiosk? They don't have the same flexibility of time as the rest of us, and they are always out on the front lines, so supporting them through this transition is so important for our library customer experience.
So go forth and play...and share...and ask questions...and consider what you can add to the process. We are all in this together and we all have so much to contribute. And besides, shiny new toys are fun, so enjoy :)
