Love your hard work gals - it's made an amazing difference already. Hopefully it has also got everyone noticing what is around us throughout the libraries, and what we can all do to get rid of obsolete materials and make our working spaces so much more efficient and aesthetically pleasing (I know there's a much more impressive and hilarious term for this that I can't remember right now - c'mon Caitlin, what was it? Aesthetically beautified? Beatification and wonderment?)
So if you can all put your thinking caps on and continue the fantastic work that these wonderful volunteers have started for us, it will help us out so much not only with our RFID transition, but the level of customer experience that we offer. Go team!
Also don't forget about the intranet! If there content that can be linked from there rather than having hard copies scattered about, this makes life so much easier for all. If there's anything you would like to add or think would be beneficial on there, or needs to be removed as it is out of date, then please let the lovely Louise know.
Just to have all the deets in one place too, make sure you check out the info from Rachel's awesome email below :)
In preparation for the Desk relocation and RFID,
the tidy up is well underway, J
A few things have been moved, please note:
Mismatch AV – now stored in
the big tall cupboard behind front desk
Empty AV cases – a few stored
in the big tall cupboard behind front desk, as well surplus stock in the
compactus in the workroom
Tissues - now stored in the
big tall cupboard behind front desk and also some in the downstairs workroom,
underneath the pigeon holes.
LogicAir folder, Contractor
induction, Bears folder, Books returned from other libraries folder – now
stored in downstairs workroom under the pigeon holes.
LBBC Packs in tall cupboard
behind front desk
Receipt rolls for slip
printers – now computer room cupboard.
They are now being stored in the
bottom drawer of the Cash drawer (behind the front desk).
It’s a work in progress. Caitlin, Cortesse and myself
did a busy bee blitz this morning around the front desk, clearing out cupboards
and stuff around the front desk.
We will be continuing this in a fortnights time, so more
changes will be coming.
Basically, just have a look in
the tall cupboard behind the front desk, and some of the cupboards behind you
at the front desk and the shelves under the pigeon holes in the
workroom… just so you are familiar with some of the changes.
With the desk modification coming, some of the items that
are currently stored in and around the existing front desk may be moved either
into the downstairs workroom, the tall cupboard or the computer room.
Depending on whether the item is a high-use item or
something that we occasionally use will determine where its new home will be.
Will keep you all posted as changes keep rolling.
Cheers
Rachel
Library beautification! Aesthetic wonderment!
ReplyDeleteOn the latest season of the American Bachelor (go on, judge me) there was a girl who's job title was 'Aesthetician'. It's a fancy word for beauty therapist but I would like to think that under all of our job titles also comes the title of Library Aesthetician :)
Aesthetic wonderment and library beautification - hilarious! Should totally be in our job descriptions!
