Inspired by the awesome efforts @ Unley, the current Goodwood desk area has had some TLC from the Wednesday crew today.
The drawers @ the desk that will be demolished are now all empty, and the huge backlog of printed brochures etc that was under the desk is now also gone. The stuff and things on the desk, in the portable drawers, on the open shelves, and the tall cupboard has also had a bit of a going over but need a little more refinement. It is a very noticeable and very exciting start! And as with the Unley clean up, it really makes you think about why we keep things and if they are adding any value, which is such a useful mindset for everyone to have during this stage of our RFID project (or any time really).
The community information has been grouped more logically and tidied up, and the compactus has also had a the very beginning of a tidy, and some other stuff and things.
So what do you need to know?
- The fixed drawers at the desk are empty and will be demolished, so please don't add anything to them.
- The council minutes and agendas have been consolidated into 2 newer magazine holders which you can find under the Pickup Shelf. We have confirmed with council that we only need to keep the last month (or meeting) of these, so as soon as a new one comes in, please pop the previous one in the recycling.
- The spare library cards are in the tall cupboard, as are the headphones.
- All duplicate spare stationery has been consolidated to the stationery cupboard in the workroom in order to stop duplication.
- The keyboard for Bears is above the Pickup Shelf.
- The spare workroom shelving has been moved to the perfectly sized nook by the workroom door and it now holds the spare paper, library membership brochures, bookmarks and TLBBC packs. So as always please always PULL that door from either side and never push it.
- The in trays that were on this shelving have been moved to the office.
- The Tuesday crew have kindly volunteered to spearhead the office tidy up (go you good things!)
- The bus timetables were years out of date and we no longer receive new ones so the damaged paper stand has been removed.
- The stamp and stamp pad for the papers is now in the tall cupboard at the desk.
- Louise is constantly updating the intranet @ the moment, so please always look there for the latest copy of instructions, policies/procedures, how-to guides etc.
The good news is there is so much usable staff room @ Goodwood, so there are so many opportunities to use the space better. So please jump on board with this mission and pitch in with the de clutter when you are @ Goody! It's really rewarding to see the results and think about how we can best utilise our spaces in a post-RFID world. Go team!
